Biography

Mr. Hem Chandra Pant is a well qualified professional with over three decades of experience in the legal field. He is a Law graduate, a Fellow of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (FCS), and a Post Graduate in Commerce (M.Com) and Business Administration MBA (HR). Mr. Pant has extensive hands-on experience of dealing with a comprehensive range of legal issues involving legal scrutiny and examination, drafting and vetting of various policies, deeds, documents, agreements and contracts. While working with BSNL as Chief General Manager (Legal) for over two decades, he advised the top management and business vertical heads on a broad range of areas including Corporate Laws, Capital market regulatory and Securities laws, contracts, Telecom regulatory & business laws, arbitration, employment & service laws, anti-corruption laws and compliance mechanisms. He has handled and managed high-stake litigation on behalf of BSNL involving direct and indirect taxes, local taxes, contracts, employment and service matters. He has been a member of the management teams constituted for the purposes of joint ventures; drafting, vetting and negotiation of shareholders agreements; take-overs, mergers and acquisitions; demergers and disinvestment. He has also been actively involved in rendering legal opinions, offering comments on various draft legislations referred by the Administrative Ministry, and attending meetings of various Parliamentary Committees.
